Spain & Portugal Budget Cut

A budget cut/tax hike was presented last week in Spain and Portugal that will cut spending over $40 billion euros ($51.7 billion in USD) stopping the salaries of workers and chop spending for unemployment benefits. Spain's unemployment rate is extremely high and the majority of the people under the age of 25 are jobless. A retired banker named Antonio Trinidade from the area said, "The young don't have any future, and the country is on edge of an abyss. I'm getting towards the end of my life, but these people in their 20's or 30's don't have jobs, or a future." Thousands upon thousands came together at the two capitals to protest the cut. Mid- week the protest got out of hand when the protesters and police collided.

Save the Wild Animals

For my essay that was due this week I analyzed a very powerful advertisement for WWF focusing on the killings of wild animals. Since my goal is to transfer to another school next year for a degree in Zoology I was compelled to learn more about the killing of these innocent animals. What I found out were some horrible details. According to The Fund for Animals with data from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service the annual death toll for the U.S. alone includes 42 million mourning doves, 30 million squirrels, 14 million ducks, 6 million deer, and thousands of bears, geese, foxes, cougars, bobcats, and many others are killed. WHY!? So people can have something to do on the weekend for fun?
What is even worse is the poachers that kill the endangered species such as elephants, tigers, and so much more. It is wrong, illegal, and it is all for money, money, money.

time flies

My baby boy just turned 5 years old on September 13th. It seems like yesterday when he was just learning to walk. For his birthday I took him to the fair and he loved every second of it. It was bittersweet watching him play. A part of me was completely thrilled seeing him run around but the other half made me sad knowing in a blink of an eye he will be walking out the door one day and taking on the world on his own. Dylan is a Virgo and some of the traits of a Virgo include being modest, shy, a perfectionist, intelligent,  analytical, practical, and reliable. All of those traits completely and 100% describe him. I know one day he is going to do big and important things. He is amazing and I love enjoying every second I get to spend with him.

Oh Beautiful Bali

Today I bought my plane ticket for a week vacation in gorgeous Bali, Indonesia.I will be going next April and couldn't be more excited. While I visit I tend to visit the Elephant Safari Park, (I am obsessed with elephants), hike through the jungle, lay on the beaches and explore everything Bali has to offer.

A few interesting things about Bali

Bali is almost entirely Hindu. Buddhists consume most of the cities.

Monkeys rome the cities like humans.

The island of Bali is home to six volcanoes.

Lies between 8 and 9 degrees south of the equator.

Bali's motto is "Unity in diversity."
